There are various sounds, vibrations, and or shock levels that can be used. The training was long and very tedious and not user friendly. Our 3 year old rescue dog trained well with the ways used in the training. We bought and trained and used the halo collar for about 3 weeks. Maybe I'll post this as a plea for advice to this sub see if someone can help. So yeah, I don't really buy it when people say things like, "you need to improve your skills." Oh, and she somehow came back with a deer leg once, that was still all flesh, not decomposed. She comes back and smells like rotting death. deep behind a neighbor in the development. Also, one of her guilty pleasures, besides designer handbags, shoes, and our couch, is a pond a few streets off. Its only a matter of time before she gets killed. However, her routine escapes are very dangerous, as we don't live very far from a 50mph highway. I seriously considered just succumbing to her will, like I'll sleep in the crate and she can just have the run of the house. I haven't caught it in action yet, so I just have to assume she has opposable thumbs. More recently, she has figured out how to actually undo the collar. Finally something worked, except within 3 days she learned to shift the collar off the skin. I actually had to shave her neck so I could get enough surface area for the shock to get full power. She doesn't need you though, because she can open even inward swinging doors. She will pretend to be doing something else, or stalking in the shadows, and when you go to answer the door, she's already out before you've processed the act of pulling on the door. She's gotten larger now, and she can jump like a freaking deer, so now she is actually hurdling the deck like an Olympian. My backyard is covered in bungee cords, blocking previously created escape routes. I sent her to a highly regarded professional trainer for three weeks. However, this dog is a canine-honey badger it doesn't give a shit. She is what you would call advanced level doesn't need a leash. My other dog is trained perfectly, so were my previous dogs. Hell, even negative reinforcement doesn't work. I've tried endlessly with positive reinforcement.
